First post! Yay!

Well hello there! Welcome to my blog. This is the first post I make and I’m gonna show some tips I used to make the image you see after the jump!

Two years ago I was asked to make a poster for an event that was to happen in the country’s capital. This is all nice and sweet but that’s not the point of this post.

The point is that while revisiting this poster I tought that there would be a better way to present it rather than just show the poster image. So I created a virtual clothesline in Modo that would allow me to display my graphic works in a more organic way.

Now, here is a brief breakdown on the project.

Breakdown

Here are some wires of the clothespin model.

The clothesline.

For the rope I used a displacement map created in Photoshop and added a little bit of fur in Modo to simulate the stringy bits that come out of the rope. The trick here is that I rotated the UV’s of the rope 45º in order to get that pattern of rope you see in the image. Sure I could make the pattern directly in Photoshop, but this way it’s way more simple to edit the texture.
